David Crosby and Graham Nash performed a benefit concert at the Pasadena Playhouse for Five Acres this past Sunday and I had the honor of being the event photographer. There were a few different tiers to this fundraiser: redwhite+bluezz catered the intimate VIP-donor dinner portion of the event which the artists attended. There was also a post concert VIP cocktail reception in the Library Room of the Playhouse, where you could really get up close and personal to the generous musicians. You mix in the experience of such a great show with a few cocktails, and Poof! You turn adults into joyful teenagers. The rowdiness that happens at the end of events can be some of the best, most fun time to snap shots.
Then of course there was the Concert. Shooting live music is one of my most favorite things to shoot, and I was stoked to have been able to shoot such legends… and at the Pasadena Playhouse no less! The show was amazing… they sang with so much emotion and sincerity. When shooting live music at larger venues, press/house/ staff photographers are typically allowed to shoot only the first 3 songs so as not to be a distraction to the audience. That meant for the rest of the concert I was in prime position to watch the performance just 4 feet from the stage. It was awesome. Talk about a fun way to spend a Sunday evening. MHP Events did an amazing job as usual. Thank you thank you THANK YOU Five Acres for being such wonderful clients. I am most grateful for what you have contributed to my life.
